The Archeologist – The Value of Treasure
While archeology produces treasures of gold and silver, the greatest treasure from archeology is the knowledge that is acquired. Through exploring the life and the possessions of people who lived long ago we are able to understand more about history and about how people lived during those times.
There are a number of excellent places to learn to become and archaeologist. There are schools all over the world that offer courses, and many of them will send their students to foreign countries so that they can work on digs everywhere from China to South America. The middle east is also full of great archaeological sites. People who have a great interest in religion are astounded by the information that they can learn about the bible, the people who lived during the time of the bible and the evolution that took place over time.
If you are consider becoming an archaeologist, the best place to study is a program that includes a lot of travelling and will let you see the world. Also, when travelling to places and seeing how people live today, it is often possible to see reflections of the way people lived in the past- the foods that people eat, the sleep patterns that people have and the way people live.
Treasures from Archaeologists in Egypt have been massive amounts of precious gems and gold that were buried with kings and queens when they died. They Egyptians thought that people could take their possessions with them into the next world. Obviously, their presence thousands of year later shows you can’t take it with you.
But these treasures now tell us a lot about the way the Egyptians lived, what they valued, how they dressed and what they ate. Egyptians today value their traditions and their history. Many of them are conflicted about how archaeologists have taken their treasures over the years and many want these treasures returned. In fact, there are some countries which have returned items to Egypt because they were taken illegally.
There is much to learn from archeology and becoming an archeologist is an exciting proffesion.
